About The Position

Under the moderate supervision of the Street Maintenance Supervisor, perform semi-skilled work installing, repairing, and maintaining streets, sidewalks, curbs, drainage ways, and related facilities, operating various motorized equipment and related work as apparent or assigned. This position is full-time, non-exempt, and eligible for the City of Newnan's remarkably comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

• Moderate experience in street maintenance, including the operation of motorized equipment.
• Valid State Driver's License - CDL Class A or B required.
• Possession of or ability to obtain Flagger Certification within one year of hire.
• Pre-employment screenings include a criminal background check, motor vehicle history, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairing and maintaining streets; repair potholes; set concrete forms; help pour concrete.
• Install, maintain, and repair storm drains, catch basins, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, traffic signs, etc.; install radar speed limit signs and traffic counters.
• Mow grass on City property and rights-of-way; blow off sidewalks; operate bush hog and hose on leaf truck to pick up leaves and debris; pick up litter.
• Operate equipment such as loaders, dump trucks, rollers, mowers, and various landscaping and street maintenance equipment.
• Prepare asphalt materials for resurfacing and patching.
• Purchase and pick up supplies as needed.
• Provide traffic control by flagging and/or placing warning/control devices when required.
