About The Position

The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is seeking qualified individuals for the role of Street Maintenance Senior Technician - CDL. This position is part of the Right of Way / Alley crew and is a regular full-time position with benefits. The schedule is 4/10's, Tuesday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The Public Works Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's capital projects, streets, and traffic operations, including signs, pavement markings, traffic signals, intelligent transportation systems, and roadway lighting. This also includes maintenance of streets, alleys, asphalt patching, repair and replacement of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, debris removal, and landscaping in the City's right of ways. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration, and will perform skilled maintenance and repair of City streets, rights-of-ways, alleys, medians, storm drain systems, retention basins, and other related concrete features in compliance with applicable regulations and specifications, as well as responding to hazards.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of experience as a City of Chandler Street Maintenance Technician – CDL, or 3 years of experience in street maintenance or civil construction including the use and operation of construction and heavy equipment
  • A Driver's License with an acceptable driving record upon hire or promotion
  • Must obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement, within 6 months of hire or promotion
  • Must obtain and maintain a Maricopa County Dust Control Certification within one (1) year of hire or promotion
  • Must obtain and maintain a 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification within one (1) year of hire or promotion
  • Must obtain and maintain an Arizona Pesticide Applicators License within 6 months of hire or promotion
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled maintenance and repair of City streets, rights-of-ways, alleys, medians, storm drain systems, retention basins and other related concrete features in compliance with applicable regulations and specifications.
  • Respond to hazards.
