About The Position

The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is seeking qualified individuals for the role of Street Maintenance Senior Technician—CDL in the Street Sweeping division. This position is scheduled to work 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The Public Works Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's capital projects, streets and traffic operations, including planning, design, installation, maintenance, and operation of signs, pavement markings, traffic signals, intelligent transportation systems, and roadway lighting. This also includes maintenance of streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, landscaping, and debris removal. The selected individual will operate and maintain a street-sweeping vehicle on arterial and residential streets, perform routine maintenance on the vehicle, and ensure streets, gutters, and public spaces are free of debris, litter, and other pollutants.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of experience as a City of Chandler Street Maintenance Technician - CDL or 3 years of experience in street maintenance or civil construction, including the use and operation of construction and heavy equipment.
  • A valid Driver's License, with an acceptable driving record upon hire or promotion.
  • A Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement, with an acceptable driving record, within 6 months of hire or promotion.
  • Obtain and maintain a Maricopa County Dust Control Certification within 1 year of hire or promotion.
  • Obtain and maintain a 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification within 1 year of hire or promotion.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Responsibilities

  • Operating and maintaining a street-sweeping vehicle on arterial and residential streets in Chandler.
  • Driving and operating the street sweeper along designated routes.
  • Performing routine maintenance on the vehicle.
  • Ensuring that streets, gutters, and public spaces are free of debris, litter, and other pollutants.
