About The Position

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is hiring a Stream Design Engineer for its Water Resources Team. The role performs hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, design, and construction support for infrastructure projects, including fish passage, river analysis for bridges, and floodplain analysis for roadway and site-civil alternative-delivery projects. The engineer works within a multidisciplinary Infrastructure Engineering Group focused on design-build infrastructure projects in Washington State and beyond. The position is based in Vancouver, Bellevue, or Federal Way, Washington, with travel up to 25% as business necessitates. Travel includes onsite construction support for streams and rivers, and may include mentoring staff in Denver. Construction support can involve placing large woody material and directing complex stream-feature placement, occasionally on overnight shifts and weekends. The role develops and reviews engineering solutions and documents, leads quality checks and hydraulic design task force meetings, coordinates stream teams of engineers, geomorphologists, biologists, and third-party design firms, and mentors junior engineers and technical staff. The engineer also supports projects, proposals, estimating, and external organizations and committees. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and/or Environmental Engineering, a Washington State Professional Engineer license, and at least 10 years of relevant experience. Compensation is $140,000–$150,000 per year, subject to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and location. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision plans; wellness and employee assistance programs; life and disability insurance; retirement plans with matching; and paid time off.
