About The Position

This summer internship sits within Petco's Strategy & Transformation team, reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer's organization. You'll work across three high-priority workstreams that directly shape how customers discover, refill, and stay loyal to their pet's prescriptions. You'll partner with teams across operations, CRM/MarTech, and veterinary services — and you'll see your work go live before the summer ends. This role is in person at our sunny San Diego office 3 days a week, Tuesday-Thursday.

Requirements

Recent graduate or rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in business, strategy, marketing, or a related field
MBA preferred
Strong project management and organizational skills — you can juggle multiple workstreams without dropping details
Comfortable working with data and translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations
Excellent communicator — written and verbal — who can work with cross-functional partners confidently
Curious, proactive, and energized by ambiguity; you don't wait to be told what to do next

Nice To Haves

Interest in retail, health, or consumer strategy is a plus

Responsibilities

Design and run a pilot program for proactively contacting pet parents about their prescription needs
Write outreach scripts and objection-handling guides tailored to distinct customer personas
Track conversion outcomes and package findings into a scalable playbook for ongoing operations
Audit active CRM messages across email, SMS, and push to identify overlap or over-messaging risks
Map the end-to-end customer message journey and design refreshed communications, including copy, visuals, and next best action logic
Review and consolidate internal documentation in partnership with subject matter experts
Publish a structured resource accessible to field and clinic partners across the organization
