StripeSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

Stripe is seeking a senior product strategist-operator to support the Risk team. This role is crucial for protecting Stripe and its users while enabling safe and responsible growth. The individual will have a significant impact on identifying emerging risks, prioritizing interventions, and delivering measurable outcomes. This position requires a technical strategist who can work quickly, bring clarity to complex situations, and drive problems to resolution. The role involves close collaboration with Risk leaders and cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, Operations, and Strategy. Key responsibilities include creating strategic clarity around Risk's performance, connecting business and product signals, pressure-testing plans, and mobilizing teams when results deviate from targets. The role blends rigorous analysis with hands-on execution, focusing on identifying areas for action and driving the necessary work to improve outcomes. The ideal candidate will be adept at connecting risk signals, data, financial performance, user impact, and product/business strategy, finding signal in noise, forming clear viewpoints, and either solving problems directly or convening the right people to address them efficiently.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in product strategy, business operations, data analytics, product management, or strategic business performance roles, ideally in high-growth technology companies.
  • Experience in product strategy, product management, or GM-style roles with direct ownership of a P&L or a specific business outcome.
  • Deep curiosity about business models and data, with the ability to probe signals, understand trends, and analyze customer usage patterns to uncover insights.
  • Proven track record of directly driving business growth through analytical insights and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply AI to improve decision-making and operational efficiency, with sound judgment on its appropriate use.
  • Strong product sense and the ability to understand the technical mechanics of software product development and scaling.
  • Experience navigating ambiguous, cross-functional problems and leading high-stakes interventions with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to connect risk signals, data, financial performance, user impact, and product and business strategy.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with fintech products or complex financial systems.
  • Experience in risk, payments, financial services, or fintech.
  • Ability to build trust and partner with senior leaders and CXOs.
  • Technical proficiency in SQL / Python / R and data analysis; ability to self-serve and perform independent deep-dives into complex datasets.
  • Experience developing creative solutions and influencing the roadmaps of cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to anticipate how product launches, policy changes, and go-to-market activity affect risk outcomes, user experience, and support operations.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain key metrics for Risk's in-year performance, covering risk outcomes, business impact, operational health, and user experience.
  • Build a disciplined "morning read" to surface emerging issues and drive timely action beyond standard dashboarding.
  • Lead deep-dive interventions and "surge" efforts to diagnose and unblock critical goals that are at risk.
  • Translate long-horizon company and risk strategies into in-year priorities and operating plans.
  • Decompose ambiguous opportunities and threats across Product, Risk, Operations, and go-to-market teams into structured workstreams with clear owners and outcomes.
  • Synthesize complex and unstructured risk signals into diagnoses, options, and recommended actions for senior leadership.
  • Pressure-test assumptions in plans by evaluating external market dynamics, changing risk patterns, user needs, and Stripe's execution capacity.
  • Identify gaps early and help teams adapt their strategies and plans.
