Strategy Intern - Commercial Strategy & Innovation (CSI) Reporting to the Director, Strategy – Commercial Strategy & Innovation (CSI), this role supports the development and execution of CSI’s strategy across its businesses, products, and innovation portfolio. The Strategy Intern will help translate enterprise and market dynamics into strategic priorities, evaluate growth and value-creation opportunities, and develop fact-based recommendations that inform where CSI plays, how it competes, and where it invests. In this highly visible role, you will partner with CSI leaders, business and functional teams, and product leaders to solve complex strategic questions, develop executive-ready analyses, and connect strategy to portfolio priorities and execution. The role requires strong analytical thinking, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to synthesize disparate inputs into clear insights, implications, and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health, Economics, Analytics, or Strategy preferred.
  • Strategic Thinking – Ability to structure complex business problems, evaluate strategic alternatives, connect insights across workstreams, and translate analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Analytical Rigor – Ability to develop fact-based analyses using quantitative and qualitative information and bring structure to ambiguous or undefined problems.
  • Business Acumen – Ability to understand business models, growth drivers, competitive dynamics, customer needs, and the financial and strategic implications of business decisions.
  • Healthcare Knowledge – General understanding of healthcare stakeholders, market dynamics, economic drivers, technology trends, and policy considerations.
  • Executive Communication – Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise narratives and executive-ready presentations.
  • Technical Capabilities – Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, with working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Word.
  • Execution Orientation – Ability to independently own workstreams, manage multiple priorities, collaborate across a matrixed organization, and drive work from analysis through recommendation.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy, strategic planning, corporate development, consulting, product strategy, business analysis, or a related discipline.
  • Experience structuring and solving complex business problems and developing data-driven recommendations.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities, including market assessment, opportunity sizing, competitive analysis, and business case development.
  • Ability to develop compelling executive-level presentations that connect analysis, insights, implications, and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions and independently own strategic workstreams.
  • Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support strategic analyses across CSI businesses, products, and functional priorities. Structure ambiguous business questions, develop hypotheses and fact bases, assess strategic alternatives, and translate findings into clear recommendations. Support development and refinement of CSI’s long-term strategy, strategic priorities, and “where to play and how to win” choices.
  • Evaluate growth opportunities, portfolio priorities, and potential sources of differentiation and enterprise value. Conduct opportunity sizing, business and market assessments, competitive analyses, and other quantitative and qualitative analyses to inform investment and prioritization decisions.
  • Support the processes and mechanisms that translate strategy into action, including strategic planning, objectives and key results (OKRs), portfolio reviews, business reviews, and leadership discussions. Help assess progress against strategic priorities, identify risks and dependencies, and synthesize implications for leadership.
  • Conduct targeted primary and secondary research to understand relevant healthcare, customer, competitor, technology, and market dynamics. Synthesize external insights into implications for CSI’s businesses, portfolio, and long-term strategic direction.
