About The Position

This Strategy and Portfolio Manager (PM Principal) is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in program and project execution and adapts them for application within the relevant business. Recognized subject matter expert within strategic and programmatic execution. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication is typically required. Provides advanced judgment and conducts in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions. Required to think beyond existing solutions, assumptions or current knowledge of sophisticated areas. Significant impact on a function and/or the business through making decisions that determine technical approaches and strategies for the area.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
  • 15+ years of experience in strategy, portfolio management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic frameworks within a large, complex organization.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders.
  • Possesses strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to quality, attention to detail, and a results-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Supports planning, directing and coordination of day-to-day activities of running a program or portfolio of programs.
  • Provides strategic direction and feedback with respect to initiative or program creation, alignment to business goals, stakeholder management, executive communications and so on.
  • Builds and manages relationships with key stakeholders, organizations and business heads.
  • Identifies and drives resolution of issues, including those outside established programs of work.
  • Collaborates with Senior Management on cross functional areas and other programs, as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure program scope definition meets business objectives.
  • Collaborates to ensure business case/cost benefit analysis is in line with business goals.
  • Manages the process with other departments if resources are being borrowed in order to ensure the program can be completed.
  • Manages the communication of status, issue, and risk disposition to all stakeholders, including senior management, on a timely basis.
  • Manages the identification of risks which impact program delivery and ensure mitigation strategies are developed and executed when necessary.
  • Manages program team which could include matrix management of director-level, senior program manager-level and other staff, as appropriate.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • Partner with CSIS leadership to articulate and shape the organization's overarching strategic goals, ensuring integration across all organizational pillars (Security, Investigations, Executive Protection, Intelligence, and Crisis Management).
  • Translate the defined strategy into a portfolio of actionable programs and projects, creating a clear through-line from strategic intent to execution.
  • Establish and lead a comprehensive portfolio management function for all major CSIS initiatives, providing a holistic view of all global projects.
  • Coordinate with Technology and Project Management unit to ensure proper project execution and coordinate project plans with active PM portfolio.
  • Serve as the central point of communication for the CSIS portfolio, managing relationships with key stakeholders and providing clear, timely status updates on progress, risks, and issues to senior management.
