Strategy and Operations Analyst

Shinkei•El Segundo, CA

About The Position

This role involves a blend of sales planning, analytics, supply chain operations, and strategic project support. The analyst will be responsible for building sales forecasts, developing customer prioritization strategies, creating sales reports, and building a cost-to-serve model. In operations, they will own arrival forecasting, variance analysis, unit cost forecasting, and waste/shrink tracking. For strategic projects, the role includes supporting insource/outsource analysis, CAPEX decision-making, ROI modeling for R&D, and identifying process improvements. Additionally, the analyst will design and maintain dashboards for various KPIs and create self-serve reporting tools.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in strategy, analytics, or operations — ideally from management consulting (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, etc.) or a high-growth startup.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to build financial models, forecasts, and business cases from scratch.
  • Must be comfortable operating with ambiguity and making decisions with incomplete data.
  • Hunger for high-intensity, high-quality, high-value work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can translate complex analysis into clear recommendations.
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments where priorities shift and no two days look the same.
  • Understand that no job, no matter how big or small, is above any of us.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Tableau or similar BI tools preferred.
  • SQL knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain sales forecasts by customer, species, and channel to drive weekly and monthly planning cycles.
  • Develop frameworks for customer prioritization, prospect targeting, and account growth strategies.
  • Create and manage weekly sales reporting in Tableau, tracking performance against plan across revenue, volume, and margin.
  • Build a cost-to-serve model that goes beyond top-line margin to incorporate order frequency, delivery complexity, payment terms, returns, and sales time per account.
  • Own arrival forecasting and variance analysis, working closely with procurement to align inbound supply with customer demand.
  • Build and maintain unit cost forecasts across all species and specs, benchmarking against market commodity pricing.
  • Develop weekly reporting in Tableau comparing actual arrivals against plan by vessel, species, and volume.
  • Analyze vessel and fleet economics to determine cost per pound by boat, factoring in robot uptime, catch volume, species mix, and port logistics.
  • Track waste and shrink across the supply chain — from dock to customer — identifying where product is lost through processing, transit damage, short shelf life, or credit claims.
  • Support insource/outsource analysis and CAPEX decision-making across processing, distribution, and fleet investments.
  • Build ROI models for R&D projects, including revenue forecasting, opex modeling, risk analysis, and project timeline tracking.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across the sales and procurement ERP workflows.
  • Design and maintain dashboards for on-time delivery tracking, logistics performance, and procurement KPIs.
  • Create dynamic, self-serve reporting tools that enable the sales and ops teams to make faster decisions.
