The Strategic Weapons System Test Engineer must proactively prepare for and execute assigned Strategic Weapon System Testing for the COLUMBIA new construction submarine, in a safe and efficient manner. This position will be on 2nd or 3rd shift. Specific responsibilities include conducting thorough job hazard analyses and briefings to ensure personnel and equipment safety, ensuring proper safety tagout and re-entry control procedures are in place and strictly adhered to, and certifying all prerequisites are fully met prior to commencing a test. The role involves evaluating recorded data for conformance to test procedure requirements/specifications, conducting effective shift turnovers to maximize downstream work efficiency, and verifying retest requirements are properly executed & certified. Additionally, the engineer will document, publish and track test delays and non-conformances, perform Test Procedure review for accuracy and completeness, and lead test execution, managing effective test data collection/certification. The engineer will also qualify as, and execute all duties of a Test Director & Shift Test Director. Test Engineers will report directly to their Test Supervisor or Assistant Chief Test Engineer (ACTE).
