About The Position

Kinder Morgan is seeking a results-driven Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support the Strategic Sourcing Direct Materials and Services team. The position leads complex sourcing initiatives and creates value across the supply chain through strategic procurement, negotiation, and category management. Categories may include Compression, Heavy Equipment, PVF (Pipe, Valves and Fittings), Pipeline Integrity, Tank Services, and others. The specialist leads cross-functional sourcing efforts, develops category and negotiation strategies, manages supplier agreements and contract lifecycles, and aligns procurement initiatives with business needs. The position works with internal stakeholders and suppliers and presents sourcing strategies and results to leadership. It may be filled at different levels depending on the successful candidate’s experience and job skills.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
At least 5 years of procurement experience is preferred.
At least 10 years of procurement experience is required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Familiarity with the industry and related commodities.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with internal customers and vendors.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Ability to work with imperfect data and evolving processes.
Proactive approach to identifying gaps and driving continuous improvement.
Proven leadership skills, including the ability to set a strategic vision.
Excellent written and oral communication, stakeholder engagement, presentation, and organizational skills.
High regard for personal safety and the safety of company assets, employees, and the general public.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Experience with SharePoint, contract management, and ERP systems.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Lead multifunctional stakeholder teams on strategic sourcing initiatives and projects.
Implement, manage, and maintain strategic sourcing programs across categories.
Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including category strategy, market analysis, negotiations, supplier selection, and contract lifecycle management.
Use company-approved templates and third-party contract documents to execute vendor agreements.
Align sourcing initiatives with Kinder Morgan’s business needs.
Create and present sourcing strategies and results to all levels of leadership.
Support suppliers and internal customers with issues and questions for assigned categories.
Use spend data and industry insights to inform sourcing and category strategies.
Develop negotiation strategies based on cost models, contract terms, risk awareness, and market intelligence.
Serve as the primary procurement contact for assigned categories.
Build stakeholder consensus on acceptable risk levels and contract language, including with Legal, Risk, EHS, and Business Unit leadership.
