About The Position

The Strategic Sourcing Buyer is responsible for managing procurement and replenishment activities for assigned suppliers supporting Union Supply's wholesale and direct-to-inmate programs. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product availability, optimizing inventory levels, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely product replenishment across the network. The Strategic Sourcing Buyer works closely with category managers, distribution center teams, sales personnel, and cross-functional business partners to execute purchasing strategies, maintain product integrity, and support operational efficiency. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to make informed purchasing decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Procurement, Logistics, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 2 years of purchasing, replenishment, procurement, inventory planning, or related supply chain experience.
  • Experience managing purchase orders, supplier relationships, and inventory replenishment.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management, procurement processes, inventory management, and vendor management.
  • Experience utilizing ERP, purchasing, and inventory management or demand planning systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement and replenishment activities for assigned suppliers and product categories.
  • Create, monitor, and manage purchase orders to ensure product availability and service level expectations are met.
  • Monitor inventory levels and replenishment requirements across multiple warehouse locations.
  • Balance inventory between warehouses to optimize stock levels and minimize shortages or excess inventory.
  • Analyze inventory trends, forecasts, and demand patterns to support purchasing decisions.
  • Coordinate resolution of supply chain disruptions and inventory-related issues.
  • Maintain data integrity including new item setup, item maintenance, and ongoing system accuracy.
  • Ensure purchasing, supplier, and inventory data remains accurate within ERP and procurement systems.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to validate information and improve data quality.
  • Analyze purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Investigate root causes of inventory, service, and supply issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
  • Generate and maintain reports related to inventory performance, supplier metrics, and purchasing activities.
  • Collaborate with category management, sales, operations, and distribution center teams to support business objectives.
  • Communicate effectively across departments to ensure alignment of inventory and procurement priorities.
  • Support special projects and strategic sourcing initiatives as assigned.
