About The Position

Responsible for source selection and procurement of products and services, secured at competitive cost, quality, and delivery levels consistent with Company policy and performance standards. This role is primary responsible for strategic and tactical global sourcing ($10M+ spend), as well as managing the metal castings/forgings, machined components, and metal fabrication commodities. Responsible for supporting and co-leading the procurement strategies for different commodities with the support of the supply chain materials manager. Responsible for developing and maintaining supplier relationships and conduct annual supplier negotiations with top ten suppliers. Responsible to ensure purchased materials are supplied in a proper time and that it will meet the delivery dates to minimize the risk of an inventory stock-out or revenue impact. Monitor supplier performance to assure proper feedback and corrective actions are in place to improve quality and delivery. Responsible for monitoring inventory levels to ensure that adequate supplies of products are always available. Ability to manage multiple suppliers & commodities to ensure ongoing supply and appropriate pricing are met. Lead and coordinate procurement assignments for new product development and engineering changes. Manage capabilities of existing and future supply base to ensure they meet the needs of our business. Responsible to drive and execute supplier savings projects (external and internal). Implementation and continuous improvement of standardization activities. Support implementation of Global Commodity strategies. This role might require working with different sites within Nikkiso to identify opportunities to standardize and improve supply chain strategies and promote best practices across the business. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong background in procurement and supply chain strategies
  • Supply chain professional with 10+ years of experience in supply chain, production, and machine shop
  • Extensive knowledge in supplier development strategies (globally and domestic is preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge of material flow best practices in a production environment high mix and low volume
  • Ability to lead and facilitate supplier negotiations and contract agreements
  • Experience working with global procurement teams
  • Strong knowledge working with machining castings, forgings, and welding
  • Strong knowledge in Machining and Fabrication – Bronze alloy, aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel
  • Strong background in Operations/Supply Chain/Lean preferred
  • Experience implementing ERP systems preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Problem Solving / Lean Manufacturing preferred
  • Project Planning / Project Management preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related technical area or equivalent work experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain good supplier and vendor relationships
  • Expertise in problem-solving working with internal and external teams
  • Ability to lead/co-lead projects in cross functional teams to drive strategic sourcing in a global environment
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel with excellent communications skills
  • Demonstrates excellence in interpersonal skills - verbal and written communication, self-starter, positive make-it-happen attitude, team player
