About The Position

Responsible for source selection and procurement of products and services, secured at competitive cost, quality, and delivery levels consistent with Company policy and performance standards. This role is primarily responsible for strategic and tactical global sourcing ($10M+ spend), as well as managing the metal castings/forgings, machined components, and metal fabrication commodities. The role supports and co-leads procurement strategies for different commodities with the support of the supply chain materials manager. It involves developing and maintaining supplier relationships, conducting annual supplier negotiations, and ensuring purchased materials are supplied in a proper time to meet delivery dates and minimize the risk of inventory stock-out or revenue impact. The position also monitors supplier performance, inventory levels, and manages multiple suppliers & commodities to ensure ongoing supply and appropriate pricing. It leads and coordinates procurement assignments for new product development and engineering changes, manages the capabilities of the existing and future supply base, and drives supplier savings projects. The role also focuses on the implementation and continuous improvement of standardization activities, supports the implementation of Global Commodity strategies, and may require working with different Nikkiso sites to identify opportunities for standardization and best practices. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong background in procurement and supply chain strategies
  • Supply chain professional with 10+ years of experience in supply chain, production, and machine shop
  • Extensive knowledge in supplier development strategies (globally and domestic is preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge of material flow best practices in a production environment high mix and low volume
  • Ability to lead and facilitate supplier negotiations and contract agreements
  • Experience working with global procurement teams
  • Strong knowledge working with machining castings, forgings, and welding
  • Strong knowledge in Machining and Fabrication – Bronze alloy, aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel
  • Strong background in Operations/Supply Chain/Lean preferred
  • Experience implementing ERP systems preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Problem Solving / Lean Manufacturing preferred
  • Project Planning / Project Management preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related technical area or equivalent work experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain good supplier and vendor relationships
  • Expertise in problem-solving working with internal and external teams
  • Ability to lead/co-lead projects in cross functional teams to drive strategic sourcing in a global environment
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel with excellent communications skills
  • Demonstrates excellence in interpersonal skills - verbal and written communication, self-starter, positive make-it-happen attitude, team player
  • New Employee Safety Training is required by all newly hired employees, including Safety Awareness.
  • All safety-related training is provided and tracked by the EHS Director.
  • Job specific training modules deemed necessary by the employee’s Manager or Director will be required of all employees on an ongoing basis.
  • Understanding and ability to safely work in a potentially explosive environment.
  • Employees are required to wear Nikkiso provided PPE as/when needed. PPEs include safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut resistant gloves, safety gloves, hearing protection, hard hats and dust masks. Failure to comply with Nikkiso safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.

  • Managing capabilities of existing and future supply base to ensure they meet business needs
  • Driving and executing supplier savings projects (external and internal)
  • Implementation and continuous improvement of standardization activities
  • Supporting implementation of Global Commodity strategies
  • Working with different sites within Nikkiso to identify opportunities to standardize and improve supply chain strategies and promote best practices
  • Performing other duties as assigned
