Lead complex transportation and logistics transformation programs spanning network operations, asset management, crew and workforce systems, freight operations, safety technology, and enterprise platform modernization. Manage program scope, budget, governance, delivery execution, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communications across multi-workstream engagements. Partner with client executives and business leaders to define transformation roadmaps, prioritize initiatives, and drive measurable value realization against agreed outcomes. Lead cross-functional teams spanning business operations, technology, data, and third-party vendor organizations, ensuring alignment across all delivery tracks. Drive initiatives involving network operations modernization, predictive maintenance and asset health platforms, intermodal and freight management systems, crew scheduling and labor optimization, supply chain visibility, and customer-facing digital capabilities. Facilitate executive steering committees, executive business reviews, program governance forums, and strategic planning sessions with C-suite and senior operational leadership. Support business development activities including proposals, solution shaping, scope definition, and client presentations in the transportation and logistics sector. Apply deep transportation domain expertise to drive throughput improvements, safety compliance, operational consistency, and cost reduction across the client's network. Lead transformation initiatives including ERP and core systems modernization, IoT and telematics integration, AI-enabled operations, digital freight platforms, and workforce technology upgrades. Oversee implementation of operations control systems, network planning tools, analytics and BI platforms, predictive asset and infrastructure solutions, and regulatory compliance programs. Apply strong financial management discipline: oversee program budgets, track benefits realization, manage vendor contracts, and provide regular cost and value reporting to executive sponsors. Use operational data, network performance analytics, and financial modeling to guide experience improvements, protect margins, and support investment decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 7 to 10 or more years of Program and Project Management experience leading large-scale transformation initiatives in complex operational environments.
  • 5 or more years of direct experience within the freight transportation, rail, logistics, or supply chain industry, with a strong understanding of operations, network management, and asset-intensive business models.
  • Proven experience leading multi-workstream programs with executive stakeholders, distributed delivery teams, and third-party technology and service vendors.
  • Strong understanding of transportation operations, freight management processes, regulatory and safety frameworks, and the technology ecosystem supporting Class I or major freight rail enterprises.
  • Demonstrated experience managing program governance, financial controls, risk management, and change management across programs of significant scale and complexity.
  • Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and align senior client leadership.
  • Must be permanently located in or willing to relocate independently to Omaha, NE. No relocation assistance is available for this position.
  • Ability to travel periodically based on client program requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Consulting or systems integration background with a Tier 1 professional services or technology advisory firm, with transportation or logistics sector focus.
  • Experience supporting major Class I railroads, freight carriers, intermodal operators, or large logistics enterprises.
  • Knowledge of ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle), transportation management systems, network operations platforms, asset performance management, crew management systems, or supply chain visibility solutions.
  • Familiarity with AI, machine learning, IoT, and digital twin applications in transportation and infrastructure contexts.
  • PMP, PgMP, Agile, Scrum, or SAFe certifications preferred.
  • Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
