About The Position

Air Canada is seeking a Strategic Procurement Advisor – Global Travel, to be based at their Montreal Headquarters. This role is part of the Strategic Procurement (SP) team, which includes Category Management teams and a Centre of Excellence (COE). The successful candidate will manage all aspects of hotel accommodations and ground transportation sourcing, including billing and compliance for crew, passengers, and Jazz. This position offers interaction with key stakeholders across the organization and requires a focus on creating synergies and leveraging spend with hotels. The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and achieving the best value for the airline while developing beneficial relationships with suppliers.

Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant field of study (commerce, supply chain, engineering, hospitality).

Responsibilities

  • Supporting sourcing initiatives related to Air Canada’s key commercial and operational priorities, specifically in the Global Travel Category (crew hotels, ground transportation providers).
  • Collaborating with and supporting cross-functional teams to deliver strategic leadership focused on value delivery, efficiency/cost savings, governance, and control.
  • Conducting supply market research.
  • Supporting sourcing strategies.
  • Evaluating competitive bid processes.
  • Drafting and preparing requests for proposals, information, or quotation.
  • Participating in vendor selection of hotels.
  • Preparing and supporting negotiations and contract execution.
  • Supporting billing and compliance responsibilities, including reviewing invoices and ensuring compliance with contract terms and company policies.
  • Developing and maintaining an understanding of the hospitality industry and supply market trends.
  • Staying abreast of Air Canada’s Corporate strategic initiatives and priorities.
  • Analyzing and monitoring category spend and expiring contracts.
  • Facilitating and supporting relationships between multiple stakeholder groups for the selection of crew accommodation and ground transportation providers.
  • Cultivating effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to determine business requirements.
  • Preparing and issuing RFPs, evaluating responses, preparing site inspection agendas, and supporting ongoing negotiations with suppliers.
  • Collaborating with internal subject matter experts to obtain concurrence on contract terms.
  • Reviewing invoices for accuracy, legitimacy, and compliance with contract terms and company policies; identifying discrepancies and working directly with vendors to ensure timely resolution.
  • Supporting audit, compliance, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Acting as an ambassador for Strategic Procurement and Air Canada.
  • Developing SP’s relationships with internal customers.
  • Communicating and promoting the successes of SP.
  • Actively engaging in learning Air Canada’s business processes.
  • Continually seeking areas for improvement.
