As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions supporting Google's infrastructure growth. You will work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships, and presenting deal recommendations to Tech leadership. Successful negotiations can save Google millions in operating costs and impact every part of the business. The Strategic Negotiator for Energy Market Development (MISO Lead) serves as the critical link between Google’s infrastructure growth and external energy regulations. This role leads Google's advocacy in the MISO region, directly influencing market design, interconnection rules, and reliability frameworks to protect our data center portfolio. Working cross-functionally, this negotiator translates corporate decarbonization goals into concrete market positions and advocates for them before Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) leadership and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). By monitoring wholesale market trends and large-load tariffs, this individual secures cost-effective energy solutions and operational flexibility. Additionally, the role involves building powerful advocacy coalitions with regional partners and trade associations to advocate favorable energy policies and advance Google's long-term sustainability objectives.
