About The Position

The Strategic Marketing Specialist will act as a strategic partner to our Hoffman Building Technologies sales engineers, account managers, service leaders, and operations, helping drive growth across building automation, controls retrofits, service agreements, energy optimization, analytics offerings, and capital projects. This role requires a tech-savvy, innovative, entrepreneurial self-starter with a relentless drive to move initiatives forward. We’re looking for someone with a bulldog mentality: persistent, resourceful, and unwilling to accept “no” when there’s a better way to support the business. We are looking for a Marketing Specialist who is embedded in the day-to-day rhythm of the business. We need someone who shows up, builds relationships, strives to understand the technical work, and helps translate our expertise into meaningful market impact. Daily in-office presence is essential to stay connected to project activity, customer needs, and team priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience supporting technical, engineering, construction, or industrial services organizations preferred.
  • Comfort working with technical subject matter including building automation, controls, or facility systems.
  • Strong project management and communication skills. Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with sales engineers, project managers, service teams, and vertical market leaders to support pursuits and customer engagement.
  • Translate complex building automation, controls, and energy solutions into clear value messaging.
  • Maintain strong visibility into key opportunities including retrofits, system upgrades, analytics deployments, and service growth initiatives.
  • Develop marketing plans that support:
  • Building automation systems (BAS/BMS) Controls upgrades and integrations
  • Smart building analytics and optimization
  • Preventive maintenance and service agreements
  • Energy and decarbonization initiatives
  • Lifecycle solutions and modernization projects
  • Align messaging with to clearly articulate customer outcomes, including improved reliability, uptime, energy performance, compliance, and operational insight.
  • Support strategic pursuits, qualifications, presentations, and customer communications.
  • Help position HBT as a trusted technical partner early in the project lifecycle.
  • Support major project storytelling — from concept through execution.
  • Monitor engagement metrics and continuously refining strategies to improve effectiveness.
  • Identify and leverage data-driven insights to strengthen sales conversations and support opportunity development.
  • Develop high-quality content that demonstrates HBT expertise in building systems, controls strategies, smart buildings, and operational excellence.
  • Capture and communicate compelling project stories, technical insights, and customer success narratives.
  • Support internal communications to ensure alignment around priorities, initiatives, and key opportunities.
  • Support industry events, customer meetings, trade shows, and technical seminars to drive engagement and visibility.
  • Ensure HBT shows up as knowledgeable, professional, and solutions-focused across all touchpoints.
  • Identify process gaps and drive improvements that reduce friction between teams.
  • Bring forward new ideas to strengthen market positioning and customer engagement.
