Strategic Finance

Nooks•San Francisco, CA
•$180,000 - $235,000

About The Position

Nooks is hiring a Strategic Finance professional in San Francisco to turn the company’s financials into insights and decisions. The role owns the company KPI framework, drives unit economics, manages strategic initiatives, and partners with leaders to drive results. Working directly with the VP Finance and senior leadership, this person will lead high-impact special projects across Finance, go-to-market efficiency, fundraising, and new initiatives. The role sits adjacent to FP&A: FP&A builds the plan, while Strategic Finance partners on execution, insights, and strategic decision-making. It offers hands-on work, significant ownership from Day 1, and the opportunity to drive change during the company’s next phase of growth.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, or corporate finance at a high-growth SaaS or AI company.
  • Expertise in financial modeling.
  • Outcomes-focused, with a track record of driving results; willing to challenge assumptions and ask why.
  • Fluency in SaaS metrics and unit economics, and how they connect to the P&L and cash.
  • Strong written and oral executive and interdepartmental communication skills, with the ability to drive a narrative and serve as a strong business partner.
  • Hands-on experience building with AI tools in finance.
  • Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills.
  • High ownership, self-direction, and comfort working in a fast-paced, rapid-growth environment.

Nice To Haves

  • SQL, database, and BI tool experience, such as Looker, Power BI, Hex, or similar.
  • Experience in sales tech, GTM software, or usage- and consumption-based pricing.
  • Exposure to fundraising, board reporting, or investor diligence.

Responsibilities

  • Own Nooks’ KPI framework, generate insights, flag risks early, and partner with department leaders on actions that move results.
  • Set targets with leaders and establish a regular operating cadence, including monthly business reviews to track progress against plan.
  • Build dashboards and AI-powered workflows that provide leadership with a single, trusted view of the business.
  • Advise the VP Finance and executive team on growth strategy, capital allocation, and investment trade-offs, and drive strategic narratives.
  • Build unit economics by segment, customer cohort, and go-to-market motion to guide investment and growth decisions.
  • Partner with Sales, RevOps, and Marketing on quota and capacity planning, go-to-market efficiency, and pipeline analysis.
  • Own key parts of board and investor materials and support fundraising and investor diligence.
  • Work with FP&A and Accounting to ensure variance analysis leads to decisions and action.
  • Run high-impact cross-functional projects from 0 to 1, including scenario planning, commissions design, pricing economics, and other initiatives.
