Lambda•San Francisco, CA
•$199,000 - $265,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Lambda is hiring a Strategic Finance Lead to own the finance perspective on major project and deal decisions involving sites, customer opportunities, hardware purchases, and financing. The role partners with the VP of Strategic Finance and works closely with Datacenter Operations, Supply Chain, Capital Markets, and Sales. It ensures that capital commitments are assessed rigorously, with returns, risks, and assumptions made clear to decision-makers. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on influencing cross-functional partners, framing trade-offs, and building scalable systems for evaluating projects. The Lead will develop consistent processes, templates, and review cadences that support comparable evaluations, allow past decisions to be audited, and give leadership confidence in financial analyses. Depending on business needs, the role may also cover unit economics and support Public Cloud pricing and packaging.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in strategic finance, corporate development, investment banking, infrastructure investing, or a similar role.
  • Experience working inside an operating company with non-finance teams.
  • Experience evaluating large, long-lived capital commitments and explaining returns and risk to a general audience.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers and operators, listen, and understand the business before modeling it.
  • Ability to build durable frameworks and processes, with a preference for consistent, repeatable methods over one-off solutions.
  • AI-native experience, with clear examples of processes created or improved using AI tools.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills, including the ability to maintain or revise a point of view with senior leadership as facts change.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and creating structure where none exists.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in datacenters, cloud infrastructure, telecom, energy, or another capital-intensive industry.
  • Finance-side experience with supply chain or capital markets decisions.
  • Experience with unit economics or pricing in a consumption or infrastructure business.

Responsibilities

  • Own the finance perspective on project and deal decisions from early screening through final approval, ensuring sites, deals, and major purchases are assessed consistently and rigorously.
  • Coordinate with Datacenter Operations, Supply Chain, Capital Markets, and Sales to align on assumptions and decision framing.
  • Clearly present decision points and trade-offs among sites, customer opportunities, and financing options to help leadership understand the choices.
  • Design and maintain systems, templates, and review cadences for consistent project evaluation, auditing past decisions, and examining results at different levels of detail.
  • Prepare and present financial analyses at deal and investment reviews.
  • Take on adjacent finance work as needed, including unit economics, Public Cloud pricing and packaging, and collaboration across the broader finance team.

Benefits

  • Generous cash and equity compensation.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their dependents.
  • Wellness and commuter stipends for select roles.
  • 401(k) plan with a 2% company match for U.S. employees.
