Strategic Finance Lead, Funds

AngelListSan Francisco, CA
$165,000Hybrid

About The Position

AngelList’s Funds business is responsible for moving capital to startups at scale. This role will operate with the autonomy and scope of a division CFO, focusing on strategic financial planning, investment decisions, and driving business growth. The successful candidate will own the central planning model, inform investment strategies, and analyze unit economics across customers and product lines. This is a non-traditional finance role where success is measured by the business making better decisions and accelerating growth. The role requires forming a point of view quickly, navigating ambiguity, and driving alignment across a leadership team.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience across strategic finance, consulting, or corporate strategy, with a track record of owning growth planning for a rapidly growing business or product line.
  • Ability to form a sharp point of view on investment opportunities and build conviction around them.
  • Experience in stopping funding for projects and bringing stakeholders along.
  • Experience building commercial mechanics: sales planning, incentive design, and pricing, grounded in unit economics.
  • Sharp analytical skills focused on problem-solving.
  • Experience operating with broad scope and no playbook, making senior judgment calls before data is clean, and shaping one's own mandate.
  • Bias to action, preferring to make decisions quickly and correct course rather than spending excessive time on analysis.
  • Strong executive communication skills, including written, in-person, and chart-based presentations, with the ability to distill complex problems.
  • Proficiency in using AI to enhance analysis where appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Funds division narrative on financial performance, constraints, and outlook including mastery of Funds P&L.
  • Shape where capital, headcount, and resources go across go-to-market, product, engineering, customer relations, and operations — pressure-testing new initiatives and existing plans, and owning the call on what to fund and what to cut.
  • Drive quarterly growth planning and target-setting, including bookings, pipeline generation, quota, and sales compensation.
  • Develop strategy, policy, and operations to manage product pricing and deal desk, rooted in detailed understanding of unit economics.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary
  • Benefits package
  • Equity package
