About The Position

This role supports the Department of War (DoW) mission by creating strategic communications, plans, and products for internal and external customers and stakeholders. The specialist will manage recurring deliverables and special projects, including briefings, talking points, speeches, memos, bullet background papers, and leadership messaging. The position also contributes to internal efforts like leadership meetings and program reviews to streamline communications, highlighting key messages, priorities, and potential issues. The role requires supporting senior leaders with a focus on detail and an analytical approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment with unforeseen tasks and shifting priorities.

Requirements

8+ years of experience working directly with senior leaders in government agencies or the Department of War
5+ years of experience with distilling and communicating key messages
Experience in creating briefs, drafting talking points, writing speeches, editing reports, and preparing leaders for events and engagements
Experience with AI tools and leveraging their benefits for strategic communications purposes
Knowledge of potential pitfalls of AI
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 products
Ability to work without direct supervision, proactively engage and solve problems, and display a dynamic work ethic
Secret clearance
Bachelor's degree
