About The Position

The Operational Technology, Growth and Divestitures organization at TC Energy is seeking an OT Strategic Business Analyst. This role, based in Calgary, AB; Houston, TX; or Charleston, WV, reports to the Senior Manager of SCADA, RTS and PI. Operational Technology is fundamental to the safe and reliable operation of critical infrastructure. As OT environments undergo modernization, integration, and growth through data and AI initiatives, the ability to clearly articulate value, align teams, and support robust decision-making becomes increasingly important. The OT Strategic Business Analyst serves as a crucial link between business teams and highly technical OT specialists. This individual will translate complex outcomes into actionable strategies, ensuring alignment on investment rationale, expected value, and collaborative forward movement. This position offers significant influence and visibility in shaping the future of Operational Technology.

Requirements

  • University degree or diploma in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in business analysis, strategy, portfolio investment planning, or similar roles
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language
  • Proven experience engaging senior leaders and producing executive‑ready materials
  • Understanding of OT data and how it is fundamentally different from structured data
  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
  • Occasionally travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in or alongside OT or industrial environments (energy, utilities, pipelines, manufacturing, etc.)
  • Experience working with OT platforms and ecosystems (e.g., AVEVA)
  • Exposure to capital planning, large initiatives, or M&A activities

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex OT initiatives into clear, outcome‑focused narratives that resonate with business leaders and executives
  • Articulate how OT investments enable safety, reliability, risk reduction, and long‑term enterprise value
  • Elevate conversations from technology details to business outcomes
  • Act as a trusted partner between business teams and OT domain experts (SCADA, Measurement, Real‑Time Systems, Infrastructure)
  • Facilitate productive conversations that align priorities, clarify trade‑offs, and build shared understanding
  • Ensure strong alignment across teams that operate and communicate very differently
  • Champion the strategic value of OT data and how it supports better decision‑making
  • Help enable future AI‑driven insights by translating the value of OT data and how it can be safely combined with corporate data
  • Support alignment between OT teams, data and analytics teams, and business stakeholders—while respecting OT safety and governance boundaries
  • Support OT strategy and portfolio planning by translating business priorities into actionable roadmaps
  • Develop business cases, options analyses, and decision support materials
  • Bring structure and clarity to complex, cross‑domain problem spaces
  • Provide analytical support during periods of growth and organizational change
  • Work closely with senior leaders across business and IS to shape priorities and decisions impacting critical operational systems
