About The Position

As a Strategic and Operational Planner within the Contingency Operations Department, you will provide force development and planning support to synchronize force modernization, plans, and operations within allocated resources. In this role, you will provide subject matter expertise and support to synchronize strategy, plans, mission essential tasks, and orders with Operations, Activities, and Investments (OAIs). Responsibilities include performing program reviews, concept and feasibility studies, gap analysis, and capability-based assessments while applying a fundamental working knowledge of Department of War (DoW) and Service policies and procedures for capability development and requirements management. The planner will participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), Working Groups (WGs), and Boards, and assist in the development of briefs, policies, information papers, and other guidance documents. Additionally, you will assist with both classified and unclassified staff action management support, as well as long-range planning and support coordination.

Requirements

  • Current Top Secret/Specialized Compartmented Information Security Clearance.
  • Fundamental working knowledge of DoW and Service policies and procedures for capability development and requirements management.
  • Familiarity with the full range of planning activities (strategic, operational, and tactical) to include OPLANs, OPORDs, and synchronizing plans with exercises.
  • Must be able to work independently with some government oversight and function effectively as part of a team in a joint working environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Associates degree and five years of experience or seven years of relevant work experience.

  • Direct experience synchronizing strategy, plans, mission essential tasks, and orders with Operations, Activities, and Investments (OAIs).
  • Experience performing program reviews, concept and feasibility studies, gap analysis, and capability-based assessments.
  • Experience working in Cross Functional Teams, Operational Planning Teams, and other groups that aim to bring disparate capabilities together to achieve military effects.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert synchronizing strategy, plans, orders, and requirements across the strategic, operational, and tactical levels for DTRA.
  • Execute the full range of analysis and planning activities, including OPLANs, OPORDs, and contingency plans, while coordinating doctrine, managing staff actions, and aligning force modernization with allocated Operations, Activities, and Investments (OAIs).
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), Working Groups (WGs), and Boards.
  • Assist in the development of briefs, policies, information papers, and other guidance documents.
  • Assist with both classified and unclassified staff action management support.
  • Provide long-range planning and support coordination.
  • Provide daily feedback to the team lead and supported unit on product development.
