About The Position

This is a one-year, non-reimbursable Joint Duty Assignment (JDA) detail in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of International Affairs, Asia Division. The division develops access and influence for CBP with foreign government border security partners in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific, supporting CBP and U.S. government missions, particularly trade and travel facilitation. It builds partner capacity and fosters international cooperation on national and economic security interests. The assignee will support development of an agency-level strategy to employ CBP resources, authorities, and capabilities against malign and illicit activities originating from the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The position requires a Secret or Top Secret clearance at placement and maintenance of that clearance while serving in the role. This is a detail, not a developmental rotation, and there is no temporary promotion opportunity. Only current, full-time federal employees are eligible; applicants must be at the detail’s grade level and obtain supervisory approval.

Requirements

  • Must be a current permanent federal employee and currently at the grade level of the detail.
  • Must have supervisory approval to apply, including a signed supervisory approval form.
  • Must not have pending or outstanding disciplinary actions.
  • Must have achieved at least “meet expectations/proficiency” on the latest performance appraisal or evaluation.
  • Must have a Secret or Top Secret security clearance at placement and maintain that clearance during the assignment.
  • Experience supporting analysis and briefings on issues related to the PRC and CBP mission sets.
  • Experience supporting interaction with U.S. government partners on areas of interest and responsibility relating to the PRC.
  • Experience supporting development of agency-level strategic guidance to counter illicit activities originating from the PRC.
  • Submit appropriate application documentation before the closing date; the resume must clearly describe relevant experience and include job title, federal series and grade, duties, agency, supervisor contact information, and start and end dates for each work history.
  • There is no educational substitution for this position.
  • The program does not apply to military service members or contractors.
