About The Position

The Director of Strategic Accounts reports to the Accountable Manager / VP MRO and is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding long-term relationships with key customers of the FAA Part 145 Repair Station, including airlines, charter operators, OEMs, lessors, and military or government operators. This role focuses on revenue growth, technical alignment of customer needs with the repair station’s technical capabilities and working directly with technicians to develop such capabilities, customer retention, and regulatory requirements, operational capacity, and contract negotiations. Technical / Quality: Maintain working knowledge of FAA Part 145 regulations and customer-specific regulatory requirements (EASA, UK CAA, TCCA, etc.). Ensure all customer commitments are consistent with approved capabilities, ratings, and quality system requirements. Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. Revenue Growth and Strategy: Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities across maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification, and component services. Collaborate with sales, engineering, and operations to develop competitive commercial proposals. Achieve and exceed assigned revenue, margin, and customer retention targets. Cross Functional Responsibilities: Partner closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure successful execution of customer programs. Align account forecasts with production planning and capacity management. Provide market and customer intelligence to senior leadership to inform strategic decisions. Supervisory Responsibilities: Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff. Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and develop Performance Improvement Plans if necessary. Motivate team members and create strategies to boost productivity. Coach, counsel, and discipline employees Enforce policies and procedures. Manage timekeeping activities and ensure accuracy and timely submittal.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in aviation maintenance, or related field.
  • 10+ years of aviation maintenance related experience
  • Experience working with airlines, leasing companies, or fleet operators
  • Demonstrated success managing large, complex aviation customer accounts
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Part 145 Repair Station operations, capability development, and regulatory environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret FAA regulations and policies pertaining to maintenance of aviation components
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, and lookups)
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strategic thinking, business acumen, and ability to resolve moderate technical issues independently.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including ability to prepare clear reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently.
  • Effective cross-function collaboration

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance, aviation management, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate preferred
