About The Position

Strategic Account Manager – Remote: The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for cultivating strong client relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction, and building value and stability in the commercial engagement, while also pursuing opportunities located across various regions and/or globally. This role is pivotal in strengthening customer loyalty while maximizing revenue from existing accounts. Additionally, the Strategic Account Manager is responsible for complex contract negotiations, and customized solutions/services across the breadth of the UPS portfolio. This is an individual contributor position at a Manager level.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in domestic/international shipping, freight, and supply chain management.
  • Five (5) years minimum of Enterprise-level experience, managing customers across multiple business units and geographies, while building strong leadership level relationships.
  • Proven ability to conduct high-level business reviews and engage executive audiences, with strong executive level communication skills both internally and externally.
  • Deep understanding of applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the ability to form SMART strategies to drive results.
  • Demonstrable results managing large, high-value accounts.
  • Demonstrable history of using critical/creative thinking to develop complex strategies, and the ability to negotiate successfully to a satisfactory conclusion for both parties.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Travel as needed to ensure strong customer relationships, prospect for and pursue opportunities, and deliver value through organized and regular business reviews.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 or more years working with enterprise level account(s) with $100M+ in annual UPS spend.
  • Deep knowledge and experience across UPS business units, including Domestic, International, SCS (GFF, GLD, Capital, Brokerage, Mail Innovations, Roadie, Happy Returns, etc.)
  • MBA or industry certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary owner of the account relationship in coordination with other sales and support teams, and resolve critical issues in collaboration with cross-functional UPS teams
  • Conduct business reviews, assess client needs, develop tailored success plans, and drive adoption to maximize ROI.
  • Monitor customer metrics, update retention data, and leverage insights to prevent churn and optimize renewals using tools like UPS DRIVE / SalesForce, Power BI and PredictIQ.
  • Identify and cultivate opportunities across the UPS portfolio of services; develop complex and custom proposals and contracts to secure UPS share of wallet.
  • Oversee and nurture executive/C-Suite relationships with large, high-value customers, acting as a trusted advisor, driving long-term success, and ensuring seamless collaboration across internal teams.
