About The Position

Conair is the largest, privately owned, fixed-wing aerial firefighting company in the world, operating a fleet of 80 specialized aircraft to fight forest fires. We are aerospace engineering experts, creating 16 different airtanker types, converting hundreds of aircraft into airtankers. We are aviation maintenance experts, performing repair, maintenance and overhaul on our fleet. And we are operators, providing airtankers, crew and maintenance on contract over fire seasons to government agencies including Canada, the US, Australia and France. We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent Lead Hand, based in Abbotsford, BC. Reporting to the Inventory & Warehouse Manager, the Lead Hand is responsible for providing technical direction, coaching and guidance to Stores employees. A successful candidate will have a strong background in warehouse operations, leadership, forklifting, parts-picking, inventory management, shipping, receiving, record keeping, and use of ERP software. They will also foster a culture of safety, collaboration and customer service.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of aircraft parts, tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Familiarity with the requirements of domestic and international shipping.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification; (will train internally).
  • Ability to obtain/maintain Airside Vehicle Operator Permit (AVOP); (will train internally).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and inventory management.
  • Strong computer experience involving excel, Microsoft Outlook & Word.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal.
  • Must be familiar with WHMIS rules and regulations.
  • Flexible work schedule, occasionally work weekends and afternoons shifts as the need arises.
  • Ability to deal with people in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain forklift operation certificate (will train internally).
  • Grade 12 completion or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in related areas.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship or permanent residency).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with aircraft parts preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a positive and safe work environment by actively promoting Conair’s vision and values.
  • Ensure tasks are assigned out as carried out within stores policy and procedures.
  • Take ownership of area workflow and projects, balancing workload among the team evenly.
  • Ensure adequate material, manpower, and equipment are available when needed; keeping the Stores Crew Lead informed of progress.
  • Action priorities assist/provide on the job training to stores employees.
  • Ensure workplace is maintained in a clean, organized and safe manner.
  • Be a working member of the crew.
  • On call duties as required and other related duties as assigned.
