About The Position

Under direct supervision, performs manual labor and routine clerical duties in the receiving, storing, inventory, shipping, and care of a variety of office supplies and equipment, paper stocks, and related items. Participates in the functioning of a moderately complex supply and mail room operation serving a large office.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years high school.
  • Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to push/pull up to 300 lbs with the use of a pallet jack or mail cart.
  • Requires the ability to operate a pallet jack.
  • Requires ability to pass a federal employment background check.
  • Individuals selected for positions with the Illinois Disability Determination Service (DDS) must go through a complete federal background investigation suitability determination by the Social Security Administration.
  • Those individuals meeting the state requirements for employment must first complete the federal background investigation prior to their start date.
  • This is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to the Social Security Disability data, records, and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Issues and delivers supplies, including but not limited to mail and equipment.
  • Receives, inspects, and verifies quantities of printed material, office supplies, and office equipment delivered from various shippers/suppliers.
  • Maintains storage and warehousing for office supplies and equipment along with stock rotation.
  • Verifies new equipment is properly identified with the assigned inventory number and paperwork is completed prior to delivering to the designated area.
  • Operates a hydraulic lift and a pallet jack in unloading and transporting printed material, office supplies, and office equipment.
  • Assists mailroom staff with sorting incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
