About The Position

The Storeroom Manager is responsible for leading all storeroom, inventory control, receiving, and warehouse operations within a high-volume aviation catering environment. This role ensures the uninterrupted flow of food products, beverages, equipment, disposables, and operational supplies required to support daily airline catering production and service delivery. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager or Unit General Manager, the Storeroom Manager is accountable for inventory accuracy, receiving operations, product storage compliance, inventory optimization, cost control, food safety standards, and team leadership. This position partners closely with Purchasing, Culinary, Operations, Finance, and Quality Assurance to ensure products are available when needed while minimizing waste, shrinkage, and excess inventory. The Storeroom Manager is expected to build a culture of accountability, inventory accuracy, safety, and operational excellence while continuously improving warehouse and storeroom processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of inventory, warehouse, storeroom, or supply chain experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing warehouse, inventory, receiving, or storeroom teams.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control principles and warehouse operations.
  • Experience managing inventory management systems, ERP platforms, and reporting tools.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Strong understanding of FIFO, FEFO, cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and physical inventory processes.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, FDA, USDA, and food safety requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience developing and managing employee schedules and labor productivity.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across operations, culinary, purchasing, and finance teams.
  • Ability to lift and move materials, supplies, and inventory as required.
  • Continuously required to multitask under time constraints while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Requires analytical thinking, inventory problem-solving, decision-making, leadership, and communication with multiple departments.
  • Must maintain consistent attendance and punctuality while ensuring operational deadlines are met and inventory accuracy standards are maintained.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, airline catering, hospitality, commissary, distribution, or other high-volume operational environments strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all inventory control activities for food, beverage, equipment, and operational supplies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts, perpetual inventory management, and physical inventory audits.
  • Monitor inventory levels and establish reorder points to ensure operational readiness while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Analyze inventory trends and identify opportunities to reduce waste, spoilage, shrinkage, and obsolete stock.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out), FEFO (First Expired, First Out), and proper stock rotation procedures are consistently followed.
  • Develop and maintain inventory reporting and key performance metrics.
  • Manage all receiving operations to ensure products are received accurately, inspected properly, and stored according to company and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure all deliveries are verified against purchase orders and receiving documentation.
  • Establish and maintain efficient receiving, storage, and distribution processes.
  • Monitor warehouse capacity and optimize storage layouts to maximize space utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure products are stored under appropriate environmental conditions, including refrigerated, frozen, and dry storage areas.
  • Maintain strict control over high-value inventory items.
  • Ensure storeroom security and inventory protection measures are consistently followed.
  • Directly supervise Storeroom Leads, Receiving Leads, Inventory Clerks, and Storeroom Attendants.
  • Develop work schedules and staffing plans aligned with operational demand and budget expectations.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance management to warehouse and storeroom team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and development planning for direct reports.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all employees are trained on inventory management procedures, food safety requirements, and workplace safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, FDA, USDA, TSA, customer-specific, and company requirements.
  • Maintain sanitation standards throughout all storage and receiving areas.
  • Ensure temperature monitoring logs, receiving inspections, and inventory records are maintained accurately.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to address inventory-related non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all food handling, storage, allergen control, and traceability requirements.
  • Monitor inventory carrying costs and identify opportunities to improve inventory turns.
  • Support budget planning and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Review inventory usage patterns and recommend operational improvements.
  • Analyze inventory variances and provide reporting to Supply Chain and Operations leadership.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, and service levels.
  • Support implementation of inventory management technology, reporting tools, and process enhancements.
  • Partner closely with Purchasing, Culinary, Operations, Production, Finance, and Quality Assurance teams.
  • Ensure inventory availability supports production schedules and airline service requirements.
  • Participate in forecasting and planning discussions to align inventory needs with business demand.
  • Support airline program launches, menu transitions, seasonal volume increases, and operational growth initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
