About The Position

The Storekeeper position is responsible for purchasing materials within a $2,000 limit and in accordance with Purchasing Policies, accounting for approximately 75% of purchase orders maintained at the factory site. They also assist supervisors, mechanics, and other crew leaders in parts identification and vendor sources. Principle accountabilities include maintaining inventories of chemicals, coal, coke, and lime rock to ensure adequate supplies for uninterrupted factory operations while minimizing balances and reducing inventory carrying costs. This role also monitors inventory cycle counts, coordinates monthly engineering firm measurements of material piles, and performs daily use calculations for materials charged to correct accounts. The Storekeeper issues chemicals and major operating supplies, coordinates storeroom staff activities with Shift Supervisors for consistency between shifts, and ensures timely handling of shipping and receiving duties by Storeroom Specialists. They also coordinate duties with the Truck Driver and provide direction for the maintenance of the chemical storage warehouse and the duties of the Materials & Supplies Handler. Additionally, this role coordinates the maintenance of the steel warehouse and participates in reviews of obsolete inventory and proper stocking levels. Overtime may be required as necessary.

Requirements

High School diploma or a GED certificate is required.
Two year degree in accounting or business, or equivalent work experience in office administration or a related area.
Must be able to reference, read and understand how to use MSDS data sheets.
Must possess computer skills and be able to learn and use the functionality of all facets of SAP inventory management and purchasing systems which include, but is not limited to requisition writing, parts issuing, inventory maintenance, purchase order maintenance, physical inventories, identification of obsolete inventory and actual purchase of materials within $2,000 limit.
Must also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word.
Must have demonstrated knowledge of proper procedures for shipping, receiving, and issuing materials; as well as purchasing of materials within the $2,000 limit.
Must demonstrate knowledge of ACSC cataloging and parts numbering systems.
Must be able to identify and locate storeroom items in SAP MM System.
Demonstrated working knowledge of materials in inventory and used in the factory.
Must be able to identify alternates to parts by maintenance.
Must understand factory chemical management program and possess an understanding of chemicals used in factory process.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communications skills, and must be able to interact with a wide range of ACSC employees and suppliers.
Must be able to provide work direction in a clear, concise and well thought out manner.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to become forklift certified.

Responsibilities

Purchasing materials within a $2,000 limit in accordance with Purchasing Policies.

Arranging and coordinating monthly engineering firm measurements of coal, coke, and rock piles to ensure minimal inventory adjustment at year end.
Performing daily coal, coke, chemical, and lime rock use calculations to ensure proper quantities are charged to correct accounts.
Issuing chemicals and major operating supplies according to established procedures.
Coordinating duties, activities, and responsibilities of the storeroom staff with Shift Supervisors.
Coordinating the duties, activities, and responsibilities of the Storeroom Specialists to ensure shipping and receiving duties are handled in a timely manner.
Coordinating the duties, activities, and responsibilities of the Truck Driver.
Providing direction in the maintenance of the chemical storage warehouse and the duties of the Materials & Supplies Handler.
Coordinating the maintenance of the steel warehouse.
Participating in review of obsolete inventory and proper stocking levels.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Working overtime as necessary.
