About The Position

Under general supervision, to order, stock, issue and maintain record of materials, supplies, and equipment; and to do related work as required. This role involves assisting a Warehouse Supervisor in warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and issuing materials. The Storekeeper will maintain necessary records for inventories, check stock levels, prepare reports, and adjust standard equipment. Responsibilities also include assisting with cost allocations, preparing budget estimates, checking purchase requisitions, preparing reports of materials received, and maintaining records of charge-out slips for stock tools and equipment. The role requires maintaining records of stock locations and requisitions, ensuring the storeroom and yard are neat and orderly, and potentially supervising storeroom workers. Additional duties include arranging storeroom layout, preparing reports, operating a forklift and personal computer, and driving on City business.

Requirements

  • Two years of recent experience in receiving, storing, issuing, and inventorying supplies, equipment, and property.
  • Knowledge of storeroom practices in stock record systems.
  • Knowledge of stockpiling arrangements and plans.
  • Knowledge of inventory controls and minimum record systems.
  • Skill in determining maximum space and storage utilization requirements.
  • Skill in the use of common hand tools.
  • Ability to maintain inventory.
  • Ability to organize and reorganize a large storeroom.
  • Ability to estimate future supply requirements.
  • Ability to keep and supervise the keeping of accurate records.
  • Ability to exercise control over stores issued.
  • Ability to write statistical and narrative reports as needed.
  • Ability to maintain storage area.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public.
  • A valid California Class "C" driver's license or equivalent at time of appointment.
