About The Position

Texas A&M University’s Department of Chemistry is seeking a Storekeeper II who, under general supervision, receives, stores, maintains, and distributes a wide variety of supplies, materials, and equipment; manages stockroom inventory; and serves as the primary liaison between the Chemistry Department stockroom and the business office.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience in receiving, storing, and issuing a variety of materials, supplies, and equipment or warehousing experience.
  • 49 CFR/IATA Hazardous Materials Initial Transportation Course and OSHA Forklift Safety Training or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects.
  • Ability to work in hot and/or cold warehouse conditions without climate control.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of inventory systems.
  • Knowledge of forklift operations.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily stockroom operations, customer service, sales activities, and workplace safety while serving as liaison to the business office and supporting the training, scheduling, and supervision of student workers.
  • Assists faculty, staff, researchers, and students with resolving order issues, repairs, returns, and tracking missing or delayed shipments.
  • Processes and maintains documentation for outgoing surplus property in accordance with University procedures.
  • Receives, processes, documents, and transfers newly received computer equipment to IT for software installation and setup.
  • Maintains stockroom signage and informational bulletin boards.
  • Processes daily and weekly sales receipts and prepares monthly documentation for billing and accounting reconciliation.
  • Processes receiving documentation, including packing slips and bills of lading, completes three-way receiving in AggieBuy, maintains records of received merchandise and discrepancies, and coordinates invoice reconciliation with Accounts Payable.
  • Coordinates the receipt, tracking, labeling, storage, and distribution of incoming chemicals, hazardous materials, laboratory supplies, mail, scientific equipment, and research materials for teaching and research operations.
  • Manages compressed gas cylinder inventory by coordinating orders and deliveries, maintaining inventory records and barcodes, processing inbound and outbound cylinders, and distributing cylinders to teaching labs, research groups, and centers.
  • Supports research operations by filling liquid nitrogen Dewars, coordinating dry ice orders, maintaining inventory records, and documenting incoming shipments and damages.
  • Coordinates domestic and international shipments, including hazardous materials and dangerous goods, ensuring compliance with DOT, IATA, federal, and export control regulations while preparing shipping documentation, maintaining records, and verifying package and account information.
  • Processes purchase orders for hazardous chemicals, organic solvents, bulk chemicals, scientific hardware, and laboratory office supplies.
