Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor established quality assurance standards. Requirements

Ability to handle stressful situations.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition and subtraction.
Effective communication skills.

Any retail experience.
Ability to speak, read and/or write in a second language.

Responsibilities

Promote trust and respect among associates.
Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
Maintain knowledge of department products and respond to questions or make product suggestions.
Recommend grocery items and inform customers about grocery specials.
Check product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide customers with fresh products they have ordered.
Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Display a positive attitude.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Report safety risks or issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud.
Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
