About The Position

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor established quality assurance standards. It also involves checking product freshness, labeling and stocking merchandise, tracking inventory, following food safety and temperature-control requirements, reinforcing safety programs, inspecting equipment, and reporting discrepancies, accidents, risks, and illegal activity. Requirements

Ability to handle stressful situations.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

Promote trust and respect among associates.
Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
Maintain knowledge of department products and answer questions or make suggestions.
Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of grocery specials.
Check product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise, and provide customers with fresh products they have ordered.
Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Maintain a positive attitude.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
Comply with safety procedures, reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of needed repairs.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Report safety risks or issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
