About The Position

Goodwill Greater New York and Northern New Jersey (GWNYNJ) is seeking a Store Manager for its Rockaway, New Jersey location. This individual will be responsible for driving incremental sales growth, embedding the brand within the community, providing exceptional customer service, and cultivating high-performing teams. The Store Manager will ensure operational excellence by adhering to Goodwill NYNJ standards and maintaining a strong attention to detail. This role is focused on training and fostering a learning environment, embodying the company's mission values. The position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and desires ownership of their business.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a retail store management position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite and ability to adapt to internal applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and able to push/pull up to 50lbs.
  • Must have open availability and be able to work holidays.
  • Proven ability to drive and exceed individual and store results.
  • Proven ability to build lasting relationships with colleagues.
  • Ability to adapt to and engage with internal and external customers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with customers, sales leadership team and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales reports and data to create business strategies.
  • Set and hold the team accountable for Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals, including Average Transaction Value (ATV), Units Per Transaction (UPT), and conversion rates.
  • Coach and motivate the team to meet assigned goals and expectations.
  • Develop associates' sales techniques and product knowledge to maximize sales growth.
  • Actively participate on the selling floor to demonstrate sales leadership.
  • Collaborate with Regional/District Manager and Marketing to identify sales-driving marketing opportunities.
  • Drive brand loyalty by coaching the sales team to promote the Goodwill Rewards program and Mission.
  • Ensure all associates provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Cultivate customer relationships by engaging with repeat clientele.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues quickly, efficiently, and respectfully.
  • Manage store Profit and Loss (P&L) by controlling expenses and labor costs.
  • Ensure proper cash control procedures, including bank deposits, safe funds, and petty cash.
  • Create effective schedules to maintain floor coverage and donation processing while adhering to payroll budgets.
  • Protect store assets and inventory, and report Loss Prevention concerns.
  • Ensure accuracy in product assessment, boutique product selection, and pricing.
  • Maximize stockroom production of donations and ensure efficient flow of product to the sales floor.
  • Implement and maintain merchandising directives and effective merchandising strategies.
  • Partner with the warehouse and Market Manager to ensure appropriate store assortment and inventory levels.
  • Identify and communicate product concerns in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor.
  • Ensure the presentation of windows, displays, fixtures, and visual areas align with current visual direction.
  • Recruit, train, and develop teams, ensuring timely filling of positions with qualified candidates.
  • Assess employee proficiency and provide timely training.
  • Evaluate team member performance and provide consistent feedback for improvement, bench strength development, and succession planning.
  • Resolve employee relations issues effectively and in a timely manner, partnering with People & Culture when necessary.
