About The Position

Every store manager is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of the store within company policy and the local laws in such a manner as to ensure that the store is profitable. Store Managers also must maintain the highest level of customer service.

  • Follow all federal, state and local laws and ordinances pertaining to the operation of the store
  • Provide a role model of conduct for other associates
  • Control variable expenses of the store
  • Ensure all associates adhere to company uniform policy
  • Perform all Store Manager checklists daily
  • Perform Sales Associate checklists each shift
  • Post schedules two weeks in advance, per policy
  • Ensure all paperwork is done accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain inventory and cash loss within company guidelines
  • Conduct inventories, cash audits, cigarette counts, cost and supply audits as directed by management
  • Ensure all store deposits are taken to the bank daily, including weekends
  • Ensure sufficient change is available for use throughout all operating hours
  • Send all required documents to the store analysts
  • Treat all associates with dignity and respect
  • Use proper personnel management techniques
  • Ensure all associates receive breaks
  • Advise division manager of any personnel situations or policy violations
  • Commit to all training programs
  • Ensure all associates are properly recording all hours worked
  • Follow the “no work off the clock policy”
  • Provide an environment free of any type of harassment or hostile conditions
  • Comply with the Company’s Responsible Retailing policy
  • Work with all associates to ensure ongoing training and development
  • Record hours worked in the workstation
  • Ensure all associate cash handling procedures are followed
  • Ensure all security video surveillance equipment is in working order
  • Ensure a safe shopping and working environment
  • Protect all company assets, including cash and merchandise
  • Ensure vendor check-in procedures are followed per company policy
  • Ensure cash is only kept in one of three places: safe, cash register and bank
  • Ensure all promotional signs are posted on the date assigned
  • Ensure current plan-o-grams are being used
  • Communicate with the District Manager for any special needs or request
  • Ensure that all merchandise orders are sent properly
  • Work with DSD (Direct Store Delivery) vendors
  • Monitor inventory levels at all times
  • Ensure all food service areas are kept clean
  • Follow all sanitation procedures
  • Keep floors clean and maintained
  • Report any maintenance problems to the Hucks Solution Center, via the Intranet
  • Ensure all equipment is in working order
  • Maintain proper operating procedures
  • Ensure that ladders are properly used
  • Follow lifting procedures per company policy
  • Use wet floor signs and floor dryers, per company policy
  • Report accidents promptly to District Manager and corporate office
  • Report all work-related injuries
  • Ensure all EPA regulations are met
  • Comply with UST (Underground Storage Tank) procedures

  • Participate in all Suggestive Selling contests by motivating Sales Associates

  • Effectively communicates with store associates, Division Manager, and the corporate office

  • Reports any maintenance problems that cannot be corrected immediately without assistance to the Hucks Solution Center, via the Intranet
  • Ensures all equipment is in working order by maintaining proper operating procedures
  • Ensures that ladders are properly used
  • Ensures that lifting procedures are followed per company policy
  • Ensures that wet floor signs and floor dryers are used, per company policy
