About The Position

The Store Manager manages the operations of donated merchandise in accordance with established business practices for the success of a retail store by developing sales and controlling expenses. The Store Manager is expected to support Chattanooga Goodwill’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and ensure decisions align with organizational guiding principles. Confidentiality of organization, employee, and participant information must be maintained, as breaches may result in termination. Punctual and dependable attendance is required. The Store Manager must manage the budget and maintain expenditures in accordance with the Organization, departmental, and store financial goals, and comply with Organization policies and Donated Goods Retail standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the Organization’s safety and security policies and procedures. This role involves hiring, firing, training, evaluating, motivating, developing, and supervising all store personnel to maintain and exceed the Organization’s operational standards. The Store Manager will greet, assist, and provide excellent customer service to donors and customers, resolve complaints, and communicate with the management team. Proficiency for tasks required in all workstations is necessary, as is monitoring and maintaining overall store appearance and housekeeping to Organization standards. The Store Manager will perform all functions performed by store personnel, attend all meetings and training as required, and conduct monthly meetings with store employees. Maintaining all company records and reports accurately and in a timely fashion, meeting store sales goals, and operating within budgetary guidelines are key responsibilities. The Store Manager will oversee the production and rotation of merchandise, ensure quality of merchandise and proper pricing, and review and adhere to Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area safety policies, programs, and procedures. Assisting at other store locations as needed and performing other duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

High School degree or GED, required.
High level of attention to detail.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English as well as interpersonal skills.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Must be able to adapt to growth and a changing environment within the Organization.
Ability to complete and maintain: CPR and First Aid certifications.
Ability to transfer to any Goodwill Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area within the territory.
Reliable transportation and communication required.
Willingness and ability to travel as needed for organizational purposes, including to other sight locations and regular meetings.
Must be available to work during operating business hours as needed for business operations.
Work schedule includes days, evenings, holidays and weekends are required.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or completion of related retail management course work preferred.
5 years of experience in a supervisory role of 15 or more employees preferred and/or demonstrated success in a DGR leadership position with completion of Goodwill assigned training.
