The Store Manager is responsible for ensuring customer needs are met, complaints are resolved efficiently, and service is quick. They will ensure products and displays are merchandised effectively to maximize sales and profitability, and that operational standards are consistently followed by all team members. The manager will oversee store standards, manage teams to deliver results, and suggest continuous improvements to existing processes. They will utilize sales forecasts to determine optimal staffing and servicing needs, working with assistant managers to build and monitor staffing plans, adjusting them to align with sales forecasts. The role involves developing and training the team in suggestive selling techniques, managing bakery team members (including hiring, training, development, performance management, goal setting, scheduling, and time/attendance management), and ensuring compliance with store protocols, policies, and procedures. The manager must ensure store policies, procedures, and strategies aimed at improving customer service, driving sales, and increasing profitability are met consistently. They will direct the store team to ensure day-to-day operating procedures are followed, including opening/closing, customer service, sales transactions, order fulfillment, quality assurance of bakery and deli products, and inventory management. The position requires completion of daily, weekly, and monthly reports for key indicators and financial compliance. Maintaining employee safety and morale by creating a safe and efficient working environment is crucial. A sound understanding of GMPs, SQF, HACCP, and OSHA standards as they relate to store bakery and deli operations is necessary. The manager must ensure the store team maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all processes and equipment, ensuring team knowledge and compliance, and auditing operations for compliance. They will develop or update SOPs for new equipment, products, or process changes to comply with GMP, SQF, HACCP, and OSHA. The role includes responsibility for overall facility management and care of the bakery, ensuring the highest levels of food and people safety. Team development is key, involving managing diverse personalities to bring out individual strengths that support the team. A Training Skills Matrix will be utilized for training and development for job growth and cross-training to create a flexible working crew and support team growth aspirations. Establishing relationships with other bakery leaders for collaboration on operating aspects, exploring avenues to improve operations, and reduce costs is expected. The manager will oversee purchasing activities for materials and supplies for deli and store operations, monitor inventory costs, manage backstock levels, shrinkage, and operational expenses. They will manage relationships with vendors of store supplies and service providers, aiming to control costs, improve service levels, and build partnerships. Creating, communicating, and leading event/holiday store action plans that provide high levels of customer service, strong cost awareness, and organization to minimize emergencies is required. Fostering a mindset of continuous improvement and intellectual curiosity within the Store Management Team to improve store operations and profitability, while creating a great work and shopping environment, is essential. The ability to master people skills is important. Responsibility for ensuring technology needs of the division are met in areas such as order processing, telecommunications, and other promotional/customer-focused programs is included. Proficiency in various store systems for inventory maintenance and ordering, customer order taking, and handling the cash register is necessary. Other duties as assigned by management.
