The Store Manager is responsible for ensuring customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient. This role involves maximizing sales and profitability through effective merchandising of products and displays. The Store Manager ensures operational standards are consistently followed, manages teams to deliver results, and suggests continuous improvements to existing processes. They utilize sales forecasts to determine optimal staffing and servicing needs, working with assistant managers to create and monitor staffing plans. This role also involves developing and training the team in suggestive selling techniques, managing bakery team members (hiring, training, development, performance management, goal setting, scheduling, time & attendance), and ensuring compliance with store protocols, policies, and procedures. The Store Manager directs the store team to ensure day-to-day operating procedures are followed, including opening/closing, customer service, sales transactions, order fulfillment, quality assurance, and inventory management. They are responsible for completing necessary reports to track key indicators and comply with financial requirements. Maintaining employee safety and morale by creating a safe and efficient working environment is crucial, along with understanding GMPs, SQF, HACCP, and OSHA standards. The Store Manager audits operations for compliance, updates SOPs as needed, and is responsible for the overall facility management and care of the bakery, ensuring the highest levels of food and people safety. Team development is a key aspect, involving managing diverse personalities and utilizing a Training Skills Matrix for job development and cross-training. The role also includes establishing relationships with other bakery leaders to improve operations and reduce costs, overseeing purchasing activities for materials and supplies, monitoring inventory costs, backstock levels, shrinkage, and operational expenses, and managing vendor relationships. Creating and leading event/holiday action plans to provide excellent customer service and minimize emergencies is also part of the role. Fostering a mindset of continuous improvement and intellectual curiosity within the Store Management Team to enhance operations and profitability is essential. The Store Manager is responsible for ensuring technology needs are met, including order processing, telecommunications, and customer-focused programs, and must be proficient in various store systems for inventory management, customer order taking, and handling cash register operations. Other duties as assigned by management may also be part of the role.
