About The Position
Town Pump is seeking a motivated and outgoing Store Manager Trainee for a new location. This is a growing company with increasing opportunities for career growth. The trainee will learn the overall operation of the store under the guidance of the store manager and/or co-manager, focusing on making supervisory decisions consistent with company standards, policies, and procedures. Key areas of learning include controllable expenses, sales increases, inside gross margins, shortage controls, and promotional programs. The role involves setting an exemplary example for co-workers in professionalism, attitude, and teamwork, with a strong emphasis on customer service, including resolving complaints and inquiries. The trainee will also serve as an acting store manager in the absence of the store manager and co-manager.
Requirements
- Motivated and outgoing personality.
- Ability to make supervisory decisions consistent with Town Pump standards, policies, and procedures.
- Understanding of controllable expenses, sales increases, inside gross margins, shortage controls, and promotional programs.
- Professionalism, positive attitude, and teamwork.
- Strong customer service skills, including communicating with customers and resolving complaints and inquiries.
- Proficiency in completing daily bookwork using a computer.
- Ability to order, inventory, invoice, and manage merchandise.
- Capability to complete store maintenance and basic repairs.
- Skills in new employee hiring, training, and orientation.
- Ability to discipline and/or terminate problem employees.
- Maintain security of all store assets, control of cash, fuel, and inventories, and control of store merchandise and labor hours.
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
Responsibilities
- Train with the store manager and/or co-manager to learn the overall operation of the store.
- Learn to make supervisory decisions consistent with Town Pump standards, policies, and procedures.
- Understand controllable expenses, sales increases, inside gross margins, shortage controls, and promotional programs.
- Set an exemplary example for co-workers in terms of professionalism, attitude, and teamwork in customer service and Convenience Store Operations.
- Serve as an acting store manager during the store manager’s absence (when the co-manager is not available).
- Complete daily bookwork using a computer to record employee information, inventory, and sale information.
- Order supplies and merchandise, inventory merchandise, invoicing merchandise, key in daily sales, merchandising, including receiving, pricing, stocking, displaying, and rotating inventories.
- Complete store maintenance and basic repairs, make bank deposits, and perform light cleaning of the store and restrooms.
- Provide new employee hiring, training, and orientation. Disciplining and/or terminating problem employees.
- Maintain security of all store assets, including control of cash, fuel, and inventories, and control of store merchandise and labor hours.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record and complete other duties assigned by management.
