About The Position

The Store Manager in Training (SMIT) is a development-focused role designed to prepare the employee for a CVS Store Manager position. The 16-week, self-paced and collaborative program includes virtual and hands-on learning experiences supported by a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach.

The SMIT supports the store as a member of the management team, leads consistently with CVS values and policies, and engages colleagues in the company’s purpose of helping people on their path to better health. The position requires readiness to accept promotion to Store Manager at any location in the designated market and to transfer among CVS Pharmacy stores in that market. Selection for the program does not guarantee promotion; promotion timing and availability depend on factors including performance and open positions. Work schedules may vary based on business needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Retail management experience or experience as a CVS Supervisor.
• Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work a schedule that may vary based on business needs.
• Willingness to accept promotion to a Store Manager role at any location in the designated market.
• Ability to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores located within the designated market.

Nice To Haves

• A four-year college degree; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Responsibilities

• Engage actively with a leader in Key Learning Experiences during the structured development program.
• Support the store as a member of the management team and lead in accordance with CVS values and policies.
• Engage colleagues in support of the company’s purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
• Communicate verbally and in writing to support and lead the team.
• Perform customer care duties to provide high levels of service.
• Execute merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
• Manage store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.
• Accept promotion opportunities to Store Manager at any location in the designated market and transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores within that market.
