About The Position

The Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, including employee supervision, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and other store needs. The position provides interactive development for an external candidate for the Store Manager role and is intended to be held for a limited period. The role assists with recruiting and staffing, merchandising, inventory management, ordering, customer service, store operations, security and cash controls, and completing required paperwork. It may operate the store in the Store Manager’s absence. Working conditions include frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and handling merchandise and equipment. The role requires regular driving in the employee’s own vehicle to meetings, other stores, and bank deposits. The work takes place in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise and occasional exposure to outdoor weather, cleaning solutions, slippery floors, and extreme cold in freezers.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including percentages.
Knowledge of cash handling procedures, cashier accountability, and deposit controls.
Ability to learn and perform cash register functions, including generating reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Proficient interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle varied situations where limited standardization exists.
Valid driver’s license.
Two or more years of experience in a leadership or managerial position.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
Two or more years of experience in a retail grocery store strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with recruiting and staffing activities.
Assist with merchandising, including staging, stocking, storing and presenting merchandise according to established practices and manager direction; properly use fixtures, signage, and pricing.
Assist with inventory management, including damages, markdowns, register scanning, paperwork, facility controls, and conducting inventories.
Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Model compliance with Company procedures and policies in the employee handbook, SOP manual, and Company communications.
Participate in store opening and closing activities.
Ensure Company funds are deposited at the designated bank.
Assist in maintaining store financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash control procedures.
Help maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
Operate the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Review operating statements for business trends, expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
