About The Position

Peak Design is seeking a curious, grounded, and highly self-directed Store Lead to manage the daily operations of their Bridgeport Village store. This is a hands-on retail position where approximately 80% of the time will be dedicated to assisting customers, demonstrating products, recommending solutions, and driving sales. The role requires comfort in owning the customer experience and store operations independently, as the store often operates with a small team or a single individual. It is ideal for someone who enjoys independent work, customer interaction, and maintaining a well-run store. The responsibilities are divided into Gear Expert and Customer Experience (80%), Leadership and Team Support (5%), Store Operations (10%), and Visual Merchandising and Store Readiness (5%).

Requirements

  • Availability for closing shifts approximately 12:30 PM - 8:30 PM.
  • 1-3 years of retail, sales, hospitality, or customer-facing experience.
  • Comfortable working independently for extended periods.
  • Strong communication and customer-service instincts.
  • Confidence initiating conversations and guiding customers through a sale.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to manage time without close supervision.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, polished store.
  • Curiosity about people and products.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to solve everyday problems independently.
  • Receptive to feedback and motivated to keep learning.
  • Ability to safely lift and move merchandise as required.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in photography, the outdoors, design, motorcycles, bicycles, or travel.
  • Experience selling technical products.
  • Experience with inventory management or visual merchandising.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers and create a thoughtful, low-pressure shopping experience.
  • Ask good questions, understand what customers need, and guide them toward the right products.
  • Demonstrate Peak Design gear clearly and confidently.
  • Build complete product solutions while staying focused on what is genuinely useful to the customer.
  • Develop deep product knowledge and confidently answer detailed questions.
  • Work toward individual and store sales goals.
  • Serve as the decision-maker on duty and confidently manage the store when working independently.
  • Model Peak Design’s hospitality standards, product knowledge, and approach to customer service.
  • Support Gear Experts through real-time feedback and product education when working together.
  • Take ownership of problems and exercise sound judgment.
  • Complete opening and closing routines.
  • Receive, replenish, organize, and maintain inventory.
  • Keep the sales floor and back-of-house areas clean, organized, and customer-ready.
  • Complete daily operational tasks accurately and communicate issues to the broader Retail team.
  • Identify problems, use good judgment, and take initiative when working independently.
  • Execute seasonal visual merchandising updates and product launches.
  • Maintain displays, signage, pricing, and overall store presentation.
  • Ensure new products and campaign materials are placed correctly and on time.
  • Spend the majority of each shift directly helping customers and selling Peak Design products.
  • Independently manage the customer experience from opening through closing.
  • Maintain strong knowledge across Peak Design’s product categories.
  • Work toward sales, conversion, and customer-experience goals.
  • Open, close, restock, clean, and complete daily operational tasks.
  • Receive and organize inventory.
  • Execute visual merchandising and product-launch updates.
  • Communicate clearly with the broader corporate Retail team.
  • Recognize when something needs attention and taking ownership.
  • Maintain a welcoming, organized, and consistently sharp store.
