About The Position

As a Store General Manager, you will lead a team to inspire Canadians to embrace an active lifestyle while achieving exceptional business results. Requirements

  • 4–5 years of senior retail management experience in a large-format, high-volume, high-traffic store.
  • Proven success in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire.
  • Strong analytical skills, using data-driven insights to drive results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS systems.
  • A passion for sports, active living, and helping others thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example, delivering exceptional service to Sporting Life’s internal and external customers.
  • Serve as a role model for customer service excellence, ensuring a best-in-class shopping experience.
  • Create connections between customers and associates while adjusting floor coverage to meet dynamic needs.
  • Achieve profitability targets, including sales, wage management, shrink reduction, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with Sporting Life standards and policies.
  • Partner with department managers to maintain well-stocked, visually appealing spaces that reflect our brand.
  • Foster an inclusive and high-performance environment.
  • Coach and mentor your management team through one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and succession planning.
  • Conduct interviews and ensure the onboarding of new hires aligns with our culture and standards.
  • Champion continuous learning, with a focus on leadership, technical skills, and customer engagement.
  • Ensure your team completes mandatory training and develops in areas aligned with their career goals.
