The Store Director is accountable for running a profitable growth business. Target believes in providing leaders with meaningful experiences to build and develop skills for a career. The Store Director role offers experience in managing a large team of hourly team members and leaders, as well as leaders of leaders. It involves recruiting, selecting, talent management, and talent planning across all store departments. Key aspects include guest service fundamentals, building and leading a guest-first culture, understanding retail business financials (e.g., payroll, profit and loss), and driving sales growth. The role also encompasses creating store-specific strategies, managing teams to deliver results, and understanding total store retail business fundamentals such as sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns and satisfaction, pricing, promotions, and specialty businesses, while also training leaders in these areas. The Store Director sets and plans total store quarterly business priorities, manages teams to meet sales goals, builds partnerships with key internal partners (e.g., Assets Protection, Food & Beverage, Human Resources) to support store performance and business growth, and makes business decisions by assessing market competition and understanding guest insights and feedback.
