About The Position

The Store Detective helps ensure a safe and secure environment for customers, team members, and vendors. The role investigates internal and external theft, including Organized Retail Crime (ORC), and supports asset protection and safety through proactive and preventive activities that enhance profitability. The position also contributes to continuous improvement and follows established safety practices and policies.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
At least 6 months of experience in security or at least 1 year of work experience.

Responsibilities

Visually inspect the building exterior and parking lot to identify potential hazards and ensure they are mitigated.
Conduct walking inspections of the backroom and sales floor.
Review cashier exception reports.
Conduct internal theft surveillance.
Review theft activity reports and follow up as necessary.
Conduct shoplifting surveillance.
Report safety hazards to Store Leadership for resolution.
Test and inspect camera equipment to ensure effective operation.
Review the alarm system printer for suspicious activity.
Participate in apprehensions of people in violation of the law and assist with prosecution of external theft cases.
Complete required documentation and write incident reports with pertinent facts that may be needed for litigation.
Testify in criminal or civil court proceedings.
Adhere to safety practices, principles, guidelines, and policies, including 200% safety accountability.
Perform other duties as required.
