About The Position

The Store Detective ensures a safe and secure environment for customers, team members, and vendors. This role investigates internal and external theft, including Organized Retail Crime (ORC), and focuses on proactive and preventive Asset Protection and safety practices that support continuous improvement and profitability.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
At least 6 months of experience in security or at least 1 year of work experience.

Responsibilities

Visually inspect the building exterior and parking lot to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Conduct walking inspections of the backroom and sales floor.
Review cashier exception reports.
Conduct internal theft surveillance.
Review theft activity reports and follow up as necessary.
Conduct shoplifting surveillance.
Report safety hazards to Store Leadership so they can be addressed.
Test and inspect camera equipment to ensure effective operation.
Review the alarm system printer for suspicious activity.
Participate in apprehensions of people violating the law and assist in prosecuting external theft cases.
Complete documentation and report writing, ensuring incident records include pertinent facts that may be required for litigation.
Testify in criminal and/or civil court proceedings.
Adhere to safety practices, principles, guidelines, and policies.
Practice 200% safety accountability.
Perform other duties as required.
