About The Position

The Store Clerk reports directly to the Store Manager and indirectly to the Assistant Store Managers and Shift Leaders. The role handles cashiering, stocking, cleaning, monitoring perishables, and providing excellent customer service while helping maintain daily store conditions. All duties are performed in accordance with company policies and procedures. The position may also involve working in other areas of the store as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic math proficiency is required, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Must have excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Must be dependable and flexible to work scheduled shifts, including willingness to work in other store areas as needed with little or no advance notice.
• Must adhere to safety standards and the uniform dress code.
• Must be able to repeatedly reach, bend, balance, lift, and transport objects weighing 20–50 pounds; some products may weigh 50–80 pounds.
• Must be able to stand, walk, or move about for extended periods.
• Must be able to push, pull, grasp, twist, and use sawing motions for extended periods.
• Must regularly work in freezers, coolers, refrigerators, inside and outside the store in all weather conditions, and inside delivery trucks.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proven, efficient retail sales experience preferred.
• Experience in dry grocery, perishable goods, meat, general grocery, cash management, and excellent customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register efficiently and complete checkout procedures to expected performance standards, accurately handling cash, EBT, debit and credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, coupons, and checks.
• Follow checkout and cash-handling procedures and policies.
• Handle, stock, and maintain grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and other perishable products according to established standards.
• Assist with unloading delivery trucks.
• Stock products on platforms, shelves, peg hooks, in baskets, and in refrigerated cases as needed.
• Use power and non-powered equipment and hand tools to move stock after receiving proper training.
• Retrieve carts from the parking lot.
• Maintain excellent store conditions and a safe, clean working environment.
• Complete assigned cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register areas, backrooms, restrooms, parking lots, and other fixtures.
• Provide excellent customer service, including communicating in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Assist store management in training other store team members.
• Maintain proper rotation of dated and undated products.
• Ensure products have price tags or signs and are displayed according to company guidelines.
• Protect company property, funds, and merchandise.
• Display, trim, package, and fill authorized fresh produce properly.
• Assist fresh meat personnel as needed.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other areas of the store.
