About The Position

The Store Setup Associate at Ocean State Job Lot is a temporary role supporting essential store operations before and immediately after new store openings. The position includes fixture assembly, receiving and stocking freight, merchandising products, and supporting customers through the grand opening, including operating a register. Associates work in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment during pre-opening setup and store grand opening. The assignment is expected to last approximately six weeks. The role works primarily in a retail store, including sales, stockroom/receiving, and operations/office areas. Conditions may vary by location and may include fluctuating temperatures, dust, and limited accessibility. The position requires frequent physical activity, including using hand tools, moving, reaching, climbing or descending ladders, and regularly lifting up to 35 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Requirements

Basic math and reading skills.
Legible handwriting.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lift 35 pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to perform physical activities including using hand tools, climbing or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting frequently.
Availability to work the 12:30 PM–9:00 PM shift and weekends.

Nice To Haves

Prior merchandise receiving, handling, and stocking experience in retail or warehouse environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

Safely set up and move fixtures, and adjust and label shelves.
Maintain accurate displays, stock assigned areas, and meet OSJL merchandising standards.
Before the store soft opening, unload multiple deliveries each day and place products on the sales floor in accordance with the New Store Playbook.
After the store soft opening, unload deliveries according to Company processes, organize merchandise, and prepare it for the sales floor.
Operate a cash register efficiently during and after the store soft opening.
After the store soft opening, provide exceptional service, build friendly rapport by exemplifying the T.R.E.A.T. model, and foster a welcoming environment.
Understand, support, and implement store safety protocols.
Keep the store neat, organized, and safe for customers and associates through regular cleaning and janitorial tasks.
Promote Company-wide customer initiatives, including donations, loyalty programs, and special offers.
Collaborate effectively and independently to achieve goals, and proactively communicate opportunities for improvement to store leadership.
Perform other job duties and tasks as requested by supervisors or managers.
